| | Newsletter for January, 2010 | | What Will 2010 Bring? |  | As I write this article, nations are scrambling to assist Haiti dig out from a devastating earthquake. The people of Haiti, already gripped by extreme poverty, are inspirational in the love and compassion that they are showing their neighbors and even strangers. My hope and prayer is that the citizens and nations of the world can be there with enough aide and assistance to prevent further catastrophe for this struggling country. For the rest of us, we are reminded that life is short and tenuous. We face risks every day, some we choose while others are a part of our daily lives. For each of us, we must decide how we will handle the twists and turns, ups and downs of our lives. We can choose to be a victim or we can choose to rise to occasion and do what we can to help ourselves . and others if needed. I must admit, I prefer to avoid risks and take a safe route. That said, I constantly find my vocational life is far less safe and secure than I would like it to be. Many of us are faced with the same circumstances as we get older and we find changes to the economy affecting our local economy and perhaps our employers. Even "Government Jobs" are being cut and new jobs may be far less lucrative than they use to be. What we ultimately face is that each day is a gift and what we do with it is up to us to decide. Some aspects of our lives we have to accept. Our personal power lies in recognizing the other areas of our lives where we do have choice. Through planning and putting together the needed resources, there is much we can accomplish if we choose to do so. With the New Year, you may have asked yourself, "What do I want to accomplish in 2010?" If I can be a resource to you as you plan changes in 2010, please don't hesitate to call me!
